I need professional makeup tips!! i want something.. fun but not too.. trampy looking?

What are the steps to wear makeup as professional ?

I am on the stage for over 20 years and here is my suggestion to you.

First. Before you upply you new make up. Clean your face from left-overs of old make up. If your skin is very porrous use lotion to close your pores. (many available at beauty supply stores and department stores, even after shave lotion will do.) If you have blamishes or pimles or acney, cover them first with makeup stick (also ask at the beauty supply).

Second. Chose your foundation tone makeup as close as possible to your natural skin tone. If your skin is oily use water proof makeup. it may be heavier but will not run under the stage light and from your skin oil. Also, there are solutions available that will slow oil prodiction of your skin.

Important hint!!! do not forget to touch your ears and your neck and part of the neck behund your ears. other wise you will end up look like you are waring a mask. *smile*

Third. Use one shade darker tone to inhance (or correct) natural structure of your face, applying it slightly under the chick bones, and anywhere you might want your face to look thiner. (coud be under chin, both sides on your nose, temples, etc.. according to your face structructure all optional)

Fouth. Opposit effect can be achived with makeup one shade lighter, if you want to make any part of your face appeare to be more promenant. (around your lips, just above your chick bones, top of your nose, just above your eye brows.. etc.. all optional)

Fifth. Blush. You can use one or two tones of blush. be very gentle with it. blend the sides of it well with the foundation to creat smooth blend. The shape of the blush you apply will depand again on the shape of your face. If your face is very long make it more rounded. It it is rounded make it elongeted. Apply it just under the chick bones fallow natural structure of your face. Almost invisible touch of light blush can be applyed to the temples and front of the chin. Just one almost invisible stroke will do the tric. Creating more younger fresh look.

Six. Shades. Very much depand on what accation you are doing make up for and what are your going to ware and color of your eyes and hair. Also, structiure of your eyes. For the general use, you can even use the color same as your foundation just two shades darker and again be careful not over do it. But here with out seing you I can't give you speccific advices. For the stage, makeup can be more contrasting and to make your eyes bigger you can place a tiny pink dot in the corner of your eye (one that is at your nose)and do not join the outlines on the oposit side. But I think I would have to show it to you to prevent missunderstanding *smile*

Seven. Eye lashes. Make shure that after you done with it, you brush them up to separate each of the lushes. No clutter!!

Eight. Lips. You will need 2 tones, pencil and gloss. Apply slightly lighter foundation just around your lips going a little bit over on to the lips. It fills the lines on the skin and will make your lips more promenant and edges look really sharp after you upply outliner. On the upper lip you use slightly darker tone, after you apply outliner pencil, slightly blend edges of it on to the lip. So, Edge of the lip is looking sharp but you don't really see the sharp line going around your lips. And finally as an option you can use a gloss if you like.

Nine. Compact powder. After you done with everything. Using a very wide brush and tranparent perhaps just a half tone lighter lose powder. Apply it with a wide light strokes all over your face ever so gently. Just one almost invisible layer. To blend everything, take any gloss away, create just about transparent prcelain feel and look of your skin as if there is nothing on it.

Remember all of it has to be done in moderation and accordig to an event you are goig to.

There are many books available about professional makeup. If you are really interested, I suggest you to get some and read it.

BTW, sorry for misspellings *smile*.What are the steps to wear makeup as professional ?
the least is the best is what i was instructed when i was is beauty schoolWhat are the steps to wear makeup as professional ?
1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry with a towel.

2. Apply a moisturizer and wait a few minutes for it soak in.

3. If your make-up needs to last a while, put on a primer first. Then put on a liquid foundation. Apply powder (pressed for dry skin, loose for oily skin.) to set the foundation.

4. Apply a light blush to the apples of the cheeks.

5. If its daytime, apply a light eyeshadow and a thin liner on the top only. If its nighttime, also apply a darker color in the crease and line the top and bottom. Apply 2 coats mascara.

6. Line the lips with a color that is almost the same color as your lips. Fill in with lipstick and cover with similarly-colored gloss.
Use natural colors...Not too much though
professional doesnt mean heavy make-up. i means looking approachable and sophisticated and educated. go natural. wear a color eyeshadow that enhances your eyes but doesnt over power them. if you wear eyeliner wear a brown one and do a very thin line. mascera always looks great as long as its not clumpy. maybelline is great for mascera! the lip color is up to you! you can switch it up whenever you want! apply concealor if you have a few blemishes. apply bronzer to your cheeks. (not too much).

The best Professional makeup brush set.?

Hey everyone! Im really wanting to know where I can get a really good quality professional make-brush set. I am constantly at the mall and always see the make-up artists at the cosmetics departments with their cute make-up brush sets on their waist ( it ties around). Anyway, any help as to where i can find these would be great! thanx! The best Professional makeup brush set.?
Sephora, the upscale cosmetic store, has a ';house brand'; of brushes that are reasonably priced and absolutely excellent. If you have a store near you, you can check out the Sephora brushes against the competition. I've never seen any brushes anywhere even close to the quality for the price. YOu can also order online. I've used them for years, as have many of my friends, and they're as good as they get. They have a huge selection of shapes in both natural hair and specialty synthetic... you need different kinds for different types of makeup (creams vs powders, etc). The sales staff is very knowledgable there and they can help you create a set that's perfect for you. I can't say enough about the brushes I've bought there! The best Professional makeup brush set.?
http://mjain2.qhealthbeauty.com/products鈥?/a>
The Brush Collection from Mary Kay has great quality brushes for a reasonable price. They come in a travel case that can also hold your other make up tools and products.
I have heard Kevin Aucoins brushes are the BEST! But they are really expensive, i use macs brushes cuz they are affordable and nice. If you go to a nordstroms and talk to the mac people im sure they can help you pick the ones you need.
The brushes made at Bee-Luscious are real professional make-up brushes. They are a little pricey but well worth the money. They should last you for years if you take care of them because they use real hairs not some synthetic junk.

Where do you get professional foundation makeup?

the kind in the palletsWhere do you get professional foundation makeup?
sorry, i don't know what is meant in the previous answers, but MAC ';factories'; will not give you anything. MAC has stores in most major cities around the globe; the biggest cities also have PRO stores. Go to your nearest MAC location (store or counter) and ask for the address of the desired store or PRO store; all MACs have a ';phone book'; of all MAC locations worldwide.

most solid foundations can go in palettes w/o being too messy; most artists use MAC Full Coverage, which has an adjustable coverage depending on how you apply it. As for the palettes themselves, MAC doesn't sell foundation palettes specifically. They do have something called ';lipmix'; palettes which you can use but the spaces are small. Most people go to art or beauty supply shops and purchase something that looks like a large pill box. They hold a lot more foundation.Where do you get professional foundation makeup?
try calling MAC factories or go and special order them, that is what my mother would have to do when she would work on commercial sets
try going to the mac factories orthe loreal factories . i'm sur ethey will be able to help you out.

Help! I need a professional! Does anyone know how I can find my correct color and shade makeup?

My face is oval shaped with hazel-brown eyes, medium brown hair, and a fair complexion. Right now, I wear foundation for fair skin, a blush that is orange tinted so that it brings out the green in my eyes, black mascara and lip balm instead of lipstick (I dont like lipstick). I tried buying black eye liner but think it looks funny with my coloring. What color should I get? Also, I want to wear lip gloss instead of balm. What color to get?Help! I need a professional! Does anyone know how I can find my correct color and shade makeup?
Go to the mall and stop by one of the beauty counters at a department store. Ask them if they do complimentary make-overs? Many will in hopes that you will buy something. Tell them what kind of look you want, i.e. natural, evening, work, etc. They will give you a make-over and everything they use they write down so you can purchase it if you want. If you don't like that counter or their products, come back the next day and try a different counter or different department store and keep trying. It's actually fun. I use to do it all the time when I was younger with my friends. You find out what looks best on you and what you prefer that way without spending loads of money. You are not obligated to buy anything either. But make sure and ask up front if you must purchase something for the make over.

Good Luck.Help! I need a professional! Does anyone know how I can find my correct color and shade makeup?
Find a MaryKay consultant. They are professionals at that.

Professional hair and makeup for wedding?

i am considering professional hair and make up for my upcoming wedding/ . i was just going to do my hair and makeup as i usually do but i started thinking of how it is a once in a lifetime thing and should have it professional. i got a quote for one hundred for each. is that way too much or reasonable.

they are coming to me on the morning of wedding day!Professional hair and makeup for wedding?
Thats actually a very very good deal!! Go with that.Professional hair and makeup for wedding?
I know a lot of people who do this... Go to a department store make-up counter and ask if they can do your make-up for you.. I think some of them will even do it for free... This is your day to shine.. You want to look fabulous! Or you could go to a MAC store and have one of the employees do it.. You could act nonchalant like you're just trying to find good make-up and they will do it for you.
We are in the same boat!!! I am getting married in September. What I did was I went to the mall to the perscriptives counter ( I am very allergic to a lot of products...except prescriptives) They do not charge you only have to purchase 3 products used on you. if they do charge each makeup artist has their own price as they usually work freelance....I am getting my hair done professionally because there is probably nothing worse than having a hair different hair sticking out in every picture!!! Good luck and congratulations!
$100 is reasonable especially if they are coming to your house to do the work. That saves you travel time and the worry about running late and getting stuck in traffic.

Be sure to ask if they will be using their own makeup products or yours.

This is money well spent considering all that you will be doing and thinking about that morning. :)

    Congratulations!

    Good luck!!
I would have a run through first to make sure you like what they do...it would be bad if you didn't like it and looked like a clown...

    Professional makeup artist?

I really want to hire a professional to do my makeup for my wedding day. I live in Upstate SC and I haven't been able to find anyone suitable as of yet. Mary Kay makes me break out, and the people behind the makeup counters in the department stores are just trying to sell me new products. There are plenty of people around who seem to be willing to give demonstrations of specific products they carry, but I want a true professional make up artist who can do airbrush make up, not someone who works for barely above minimum wage trying to sell makeup or does it as a hobby. Any suggestions on where to look for someone like this? There aren't really many spas in my area, so I doubt I can really look there. Has anyone else hired someone like this? What was the experience like? Were you happy with your makeup? How far in advance should I do a trial run? I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer. Thanks!Professional makeup artist?
Alot of high end salons have make up artists.Professional makeup artist?
Try TheKnot.com and see if you can do a search on professional makeup artists.

Any good salon should have a trained makeup artist. If not, you could hire someone to travel to your house/ceremony/reception site and do your makeup there. It might be costly; however, I think it's well worth it. Especially since a bad makeup job will show up horribly in pictures.
I had a favorite make up person at a Dillards and we hired her when my girls got married. She did a fabulous job and appreciated the confidence I had in her.
Anu high end salon have make up artists. Any licensed beutician had to go throught make up classes to obtain their license, so all of them know. Ask your hairdresser, she show know you pretty well and design yoru make up.

You want to look like yourself, have someone that you know and trust do your make up.

Mary Kay...yikes! May I suggest Estee Lauder, their make up is worth every penny and their counter people are very helpful.

    Good luck
    sorry dont know really sorry
Hi. Is there a Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio in your area?

Go to www.merlenorman.com to locate a studio.

I am not a studio owner, but I buy Merle Norman cosmetics. They are definitely a level above Mary Kay. If there is one, you can go in for a FREE makeover/makeup session. Then, if you like it, you can book your wedding day makeup session with them. I can't tell you what they would charge for this service, because all studios are independently owned

    That's my idea....check it out!
I would ask a trusted hairdresser. Also i have a friend who used someone from a department store. She went to her at the store for the run through and then the makeup artist came to her on the wedding day. I would ask around at any department store to see if they offer such a thing. My friend did buy the makeup not because of being forced to but because she liked it. She had also prearanged the date of the wedding before the run through.

Day spa type businesses have makeup people on staff. If none are in your area, try makeup only stores (Sephora, Ulta, etc.) or makeup counters at big department stores.
Check your local beauty school, call them and ask if they have recommendations or if there are some recent graduates looking for side work.

If you have a hair salon you normally go to, they may be able to recommend someone as well.

    Happy Birthday!
That depends on your area and how much you are willing to or have to spend. I have had ads on Craigs list that I got a bit of business from. Thats a great place to start. Just go to craigslist.com and in the search area type in Make Up and then your area. Most people on there will have links to their websites with prices and photos. Or they will have them right there for you to look at. Other wise you can go to MAC either a store or a department store. I know they always have a minimum purchase amount that varies. This is just to ensure the artist is reserved for you. It's usually cheaper then hiring one to come to you on your special day. I know the M.A.C. near me is like $50. Gets you around 2 to 3 items you can take with you as well. It also depends on what style of make-up you want. Craigs list will seperate them such as prom, B-Day, Wedding, Mineral Make-Up etc. It's a great way to see who is out there trying to do it on their own and help support them. Check them out and give a few a call to see what your options are. Also M.A.C. isn't the only counter at department stores who will reserve time for you. You can also try Clarins, Chanel, Perscriptives. There are so many. Sorry to run on so long I hope this helped.
i really don't know, what's wrong with saving money and doing it for your self?

I have the ability to live pretty much anywhere in the US, but don't have plans to throw myself into LA or NY right now. I am willing to do what it takes portfolio wise %26amp; I am working on expanding that now. I know for example the series One Tree Hill is filmed in Wilmington, NC %26amp; I would love to have the opporturnity to apprentice or assist on a real set. the industry you want to be in is one of the most competitive and cut-throat in the world....

NY and LA are the best places to be for what you want...

dont expect as many opportunities in smaller markets...

seriously, try local big cities... stage as well as screen venues... good luck

What is the professional name for the people who put makeup on the dead?

    MORTICIANS.

Does a female Soldier look more or less professional when she wears makeup in uniform?

Okay, I know what AR 670-9 says about this, makeup is permitted so long as it looks natural (and that guideline is kind of loose) and is not too trendy, but despite Army Regulations, is it in good taste? Personally I think it looks un-Soldier-ly and un professional, even in an office environment, for female Soldiers to wear makeup with their ACUs or BDUs. Other people swear that no matter what the company is, in traditional office settings women should always wear makeup, that includes the military. What do you think?

Don't get me wrong, I like to wear makeup when I am in civies or in my Class A's, but it doesn't feel right in the battle uniforms. Thats just me. I want to hear your opinions.Does a female Soldier look more or less professional when she wears makeup in uniform?
Makeup needs to be tasteful. Leave it at a foundation, powder, clear mascara, and a neutral lip gloss. My husband is AF and it looks so trashy when female airmen cake on the makeup. It makes the Air Force look like a high school prom not a career.Does a female Soldier look more or less professional when she wears makeup in uniform?
As long as the make up is applied with taste and not like some streetwalker. I always made sure my make up was done, nails looked good and the hair as nice as it could be. I may have had to wear fatigues and wear combat boots, but I made certain I looked like a girl who represented the military professionally.
Depends on the soldier, fit of the uniform, and the makeup
I think some coverup is fine if she's got bad skin, but other than that i'm with you. i see some women on base with bright pink lipstick or green eyeshadow in their BDUs and it just doesn't look right to me.
    I think it's fine.

It's the military that's the problem...
    un profeesional
I always felt that most women soldiers looked better, and not unprofessional, with a low-key, natural amount of makeup when in an office environment, even if they were wearing BDU's. The purpose of BDUs was never to pretend that you were in the field all the time, but to give soldiers an economical, versatile, easy to care for uniform. A little makeup doesn't take away from that. Obviously, if you're wearing a Kevlar and carrying a weapon, it's a different matter. There makeup looks like you stole your boyfriend's TA-50 to play in.
nope totally agree unless you make up is some what kiss like

then it could be concidered an offensive weapon
I agree with you, it just doesn't look right to be wearing makeup with your uniform
Even an old barn can look good with a new coat of paint.

Course, I don't think make up is necessary in BATTLE. You wear BDUs in the OFFICE? Wow, has the military changed. Either that or you have a tough bunch of nuts to work with. hehe
It's depend how she consider herself: firs as woman or first as soldier. I'll go for first option: make love not wars!
Make up can be a hinderance. Men have short hair standards because of problems with longer hair. I had women looking for romance with gobs of makeup and tons of jewelry. I put them together on shift and the BS stopped. The make up queens often ended up on details that would make them sweat and ruin their cosmetics. My best women soldiers didn't wear make up while on duty. One of them works with me today and is a grandmother with a six digit salary. Today the makeup suits her!

How much does a professional photographer cost for self -potraits, inclusive of hair and makeup?

what are the rates going for in MA?How much does a professional photographer cost for self -potraits, inclusive of hair and makeup?
I had my senior portraits done by a professional photographer yesterday, but I didn't have hair and makeup done. The time with the photographer was $200 for 80 min in front of the camera. The prints come in packages ranging from about $200-$1500. It all depends on how good the photographer is and how much the studio wants for prints. For hair and makeup i'm guessing an extra 50 to 100 bucks. Good luck! it was super fun!How much does a professional photographer cost for self -potraits, inclusive of hair and makeup?
You are looking for portraits of yourself, not self-portraits.

Self-portraits are the images you take of your self, just you and your camera.

I suggest using bare minerals base. It reflects light so in pictures your skin looks perfect and airbrushed without paying for a professional air brushing. How can i get a professional to do my makeup one on one and not in the middle of a store?

i believe you would have to sign up for it. the higher end makeup people usually host little classes and such for jsut reasons. see which one you want a makeover with and ask them about it.How can i get a professional to do my makeup one on one and not in the middle of a store?
Most hair stylists, note that i said stylist and not dresser. the difference is that a stylist will give you WHOLE new look while any old sally at a regular beauty shop will just copy the picture you give them. They go off of names like bob, shag, pixie. They wont actually give you a look that is meant for you. Anyways back to your make up. Most stylist also do make up. You can make an appointment just for your makeup and they will sit you down and give you a new look, if you dont like it they will do something different. After the look you want is chosen they will then teach you the steps to do it yourself. They will take off what they did and you will do it with them. By the time you leave you will have a great look and you will know how to pull it off everyday. I dont know where you live but maybe you can look in you local phone book for professionals. How can i get a professional to do my makeup one on one and not in the middle of a store?
Check with some of your local beauty shops. Some have areas where they apply make-up and you could inquire if they could spend a few minutes with you and teach you proper application techniques and color suggestions.

    Just please remember....less is more!
Prositutes do makeup on the side sometimes and they are good at it. My girlfriend got hers done from one and it looked great.
Check for an aularale.com rep in your area
Check with Merle Norman stores. They're small, have great products and trained personnel.
Go to your local department store..tell them you want it done in privacy..they will do this and it's free..

    Professional makeup school question?

for people that want to go to professional makeup schools

is it best to like take a basic cosmetology class before going to a actual professional makeup school? just to kind of learn the basics. i would think so...but i need to know for sure.

i mean i havent heard of a fresh out of highschool student going straight to professional makeup schools right?Professional makeup school question?
    haha wow.

nice answer you left on my question...

    realll maturee.Professional makeup school question?
There isn't a 'Basic' cosmetology class...There's one course, which is quite expensive, and not worth it, If your only going through it to learn the basics of make up. Unless your intreseted in Hair and Nails, and skin too. Then go straight to the make up school...If your intreseted in Nails and Skin and Hair, Then you can always take specializing classes in Make up, after you become licensed.

What are some interesting (but professional) ways to do your eye makeup? I usually use a medium shade on my?

eye lid, a lighter color on the brow bone and a darker color in teh crease, which I also line the top lid with. Any other nice styles you can rec to apply eye color? What are some interesting (but professional) ways to do your eye makeup? I usually use a medium shade on my?
I think that for daytime you're best using either just one color on your lid, or the combo you've mentioned above. An easy daytime look is to skip the shadow all together. Use a chunky shadow/liner pencil in a silvery shade and dab the color around the inside corner of your eye. Dab with your fingertip to soften the color. Then, line the INSIDE rims of your eyes with black pencil and use some black mascara. This looks sexy but natural.

For nightime you can spice it up bigtime! I love the look of eyes lined ONLY under the lower lashes with a metallic liquid liner (bronze or jungle green look fab) and then coated really thickly with black mascara. What are some interesting (but professional) ways to do your eye makeup? I usually use a medium shade on my?
Make up brushes make it a lot easier to acheive good results. I usually use some fun color, like shimmery mauve/pink or shimmery pale peach- some color that makes your eye color stand out on my lid (ie: peaches or pinks for blue eyes, peaches or browns for green eyes, and greens or mauves for brown eyes)

; then I take a darker grey or darker brown with a fine brush to accent the edge of my eyelid from about the middle (right above my eyeball) to the outer corner (ie: kinda like an eyeliner would do, but the shadow creates a softer look). I usually soften the edge of the darker with the lid shade. Then apply mascara. I don't do the crease anymore, I would only do that if you have very big eyes. And don't line the full lid cause that only makes your eyes look over done and smaller.

    Hope that helps!
you sound like you have a good look going on with what you described. have you tried a light copper colour on the lid along with the method you described (light on the brow bone, and darker in the crease). the copper adds a bit of punch to the eye but not in a garish way. there are some lovely light copper shades out there.

I need to find a quality Professional Makeup Kit? Help please!?

I am expanding my freelance work in makeup. I am tired of using my own personal products and need to build up a better kit. I'm having trouble finding quality kits online. Does anyone have any sites that they can lead me too. I'm willing to spend anywhere from 300-600 dollars for a starter kit. Also does anyone know if you can contact MAC pro to order kits from them?

ThanksI need to find a quality Professional Makeup Kit? Help please!?
YES you can order from mac just get w/someone and let them know what you are doing.I need to find a quality Professional Makeup Kit? Help please!?
As far as I know, MAC does not sell their pro palettes to the public. I use the 120 eye shadow palette by Manly. You can get them on ebay for not that much and they ship from China. I also use Dior foundation because they are easy to match. All the colors ending in 0 are neutral and can work on any tone of skin. They run about $45 a piece.
you can order mac pro if u call over the phone.. if u try toorder online it doesnt work.. however if u were to enroll in their MAC PRO membership then it does work..
    You might try Bee Luscious.

  • What do professional volleyball players do with their hair and makeup?

i sweat all the time when i play. and sweat hurts when it goes in your eyes. gosh, i cant imagine what it would be like if mascara, eyeshadow, etc went in my eye. all the make up would get messed up. im sure they don't wear make up, or they wear waterproof ones (idk if they can withstand sweat though)

um with their hair, they probably just do normal stuff.. cause fancy hair dos will get all messy while they play.

to the person above, wearing a visor and sunscreen only applies to beach volleyball. What do professional volleyball players do with their hair and makeup?
Hon! it volleyball, not cheer leading! Of corse vb is a ';girlie'; sport, but whatevs! My coach just got out of coledge and her hair is short, always wears a hearband and puts it back.

She wears like mascara i think but thats it. U don t have 2 look good just to sweat it off! What do professional volleyball players do with their hair and makeup?
I don't think they wear makeup during games, because it sweats off. They wear their hair in a ponytail or a ponytail with a braid at the end.
Hair = cut short and/or in a pony tail and usually a visor/cap.

    Make-up = sun screen!

    Short and sweet.
    some shave it !!

I need help locating a professional makeup artist (for my wedding)in Miami Florida?

preferably someone who has experiance with dark skin tonesI need help locating a professional makeup artist (for my wedding)in Miami Florida?
look it upI need help locating a professional makeup artist (for my wedding)in Miami Florida?
Be very careful about what counter you go to if thats what you decide to do. Just because those women work at cosmetics counters doesnt mean they can apply make-up well. I suggest looking at the woman's make-up and choose one that you like the way she has applied hers. You can also try Mary Kay reps. Some of them are licensed and know how to put on make-up. I had one do mine for my cousins Quince. I even took courses in Make-up at a cosmetology school to better understand make-up application. Good Luck!
Usually you can get your make-up done at the same salon you are getting your hair done.

If you are doing your own hair and you can't find anyone in you immediate area who is a professional, you should check out the make-up departments at different department stores. You can schedule at time to go in there before your actual wedding, that is if your wedding is like in the late afternoon or evening, or you can hire one of the make-up girls at the department store after they have given you a test of how they apply make-up.

Just a thought since I'm not in the area. Hope that helps and congratulations on getting married!
I would suggest going to a department store and asking the people at the make-up counters (many stores have a section for women of color). You can probably get one of those clerks to do it for you or they probably know profsesional makeup artists.

How Much does professional Bridal Makeup Cost?

Hi there, im just wondering how much your wedding day makeup cost? Just for the bride, and to have the person come to your house, also im in Melbourne Australia if you have a place you would recommend.. Thankyou!!!How Much does professional Bridal Makeup Cost?
I would look in your phone directory and find salons in your area that do make-up. then look to see if any of those makeup artists do wedding makeup on site. Ask your hairstylist as well. that's my best suggestion. Good luck. How Much does professional Bridal Makeup Cost?
It cost me about $80. I have never been good with makeup, so it was a no brainer to have someone else do it. I must say, she did a fantastic job and I highly recommend it. Also --- if you can, get your eyebrows waxed the week before the wedding.
    http://www.absolutelygorgeous.com.au/wed鈥?/a>

I think your best bet it to google or do a yellow pages search and ring around to find the best deal and someone who will come to your house
It cost me $75 per person when I got married to get makeup done at my house. I found her through a friend but you can find people in your local community paper in the classified section. Also lots of nutrimetic consultants do wedding makeup so that could be an option too.
It cost $75 for the bride to go to the salon and have her make-up done in the last wedding that I was in. $50 for each bridesmaid
She's charging about $300 but she has to come to the location and do some airbrushing for me to cover up scars so it's a little higher than the usual.

Which makeup brushes are best for professional makeup artists? Bobbi Brown? MAC? Others?

I'm just finishing school for esthetics, and I'm looking for a great set of professional makeup brushes. I've been looking at MAC and Bobbi Brown. I really like them both, but I can't decide! I believe they are both cruelty-free and hand-made. Bobbi's seem softer, which I believe is good for a more natural look. But MAC's brushes get such great reviews. Help me decide!Which makeup brushes are best for professional makeup artists? Bobbi Brown? MAC? Others?
I love my MAC brushes, honestly my life would be empty with out them.

I would get MAC brushes, they are said to be the best in the industry. In my opinion MAC brushes would be more versatile because mac has products for theater and stage makeup as well as every day looks. Bobbi Brown products are made for women looking for good quality product that can be used everyday.

Become a MAC pro member they offer forty percent off their products if you are a make up artist. Which can save you a ton of money!Which makeup brushes are best for professional makeup artists? Bobbi Brown? MAC? Others?
I think both of them have the same quality.. It's just about you. If you think bobbi's are better then get bobbi's.. don't get MAC just because you hear more good reviews on it. I think MAC are more known because there are more MAC stores theyre like everywhere. I am also confused between both because like you i've been hearing great reviews on MAC and when they compare BB and MAC i always hear people say MAC's are better! but i just need them for my own..not proffesional or anything so I could take my time =D.. arent BB's more expensive? But you're buying sets? my advice is if u want MAC's try to not get the sets because they're not handmade therefore shed and rougher than the individuals yes they are wwwwwaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy cheaper than the individuals but still... if ure using it as a makeup artist.. BB sets are still expensive 1 set with 10 brushes are like $700 but theyre worth it i bet..just as good as the individuals
idk but i find those brushes from walgreens frikin awesome....the ecotools bamboo brushes dont shed and they are cruelty free ;D

if u really must get a brand one....fine.go with MAC. everyone loves them.everyone uses them.they are professional.
I'm a big fan on MAC's brushes, and they also have the MAC Pro program where you can get a discount on their products. Good luck!
You might want brushes from each! Maybe the blush brush is better from one maker and the foundation brush from another.. so don't be afraid to just buy the individual brushes you like the most.

How much does it cost to have a professional make up artist do your makeup on your wedding day?

It depends on where you live. I had my makeup done for a family portrait last year and I paid $75.00. I have heard other people say they have paid any where from 25 to 150 dollars. Get a list on places in your area that do makeup, You can do that by using Yahoo locals, or Yahoo yellow pages. call them up and get estaments. Congrats on you up coming wedding. How much does it cost to have a professional make up artist do your makeup on your wedding day?
Go to any department store and ask around at the make-up counters..places like Lancome, Clinique, and Estee Lauder should do this for free..How much does it cost to have a professional make up artist do your makeup on your wedding day?
Why don't you get in touch with a MARY KAY consultant and they will do some make up training with you for free and then you can try the products !! If you like her you could book her to do your wedding make up . It will cost approx 拢30
merele norman... its free when u buy $30 worth of makeup or just pay $30.... better to buy the makeup... its awesome just had a makeover this weekend for a wedding...
I've paid $40 or $50. If you go to a Mac or Lancome counter they'll do it beautifully and its about $35 in purchases so you actually get to keep some of the make up.
I am a make up artist.Usually for the bride I take the equivalent of $40 while for the mother of the bride and the brides maid I take $20 each.Remember it's your wedding.i am sure that you want to be the most beautiful amongst all the ladies.I know it already costs a lot to do a wedding but you'll be satisfied at the end.Just be honest with your make up artist.if you dont like the colors she used or the job as a whole just tell her you're payiong her.Good luck
You should hire someone from MAC to do it......its not expensive and the make up they do is AWESOME!!! my sister had her make done by them and she LOOKED beautiful..I mean she's already beautiful, but the makeup accentuated everything in a great way!!

    about $50
just go to macy's its free with a 50$ purchase. if you wanna go the cheap way plus you get stuff!

    happy wedding!
Hi! You should try a Mary Kay consultant! Just go to Marykay.com and type in your zip and it will show you one near you! They will do it for free and if you like they will do it on your wedding day! Be careful with MAC, they tend to be very dramatic! Not so natural! Good Luck and Happy Wedding!
    i know this isn't answering your question...but...

i would just do it yourself, because you don't want to stand out on your wedding day, but look like YOU. normally when someone else does your make-up, they don't get the feeling of who you are, and make you like someone you aren't--it's like wearing a mask.

just wear your ';everyday'; make-up, but maybe apply a different blush or shiny lip gloss. ;-)

  • Can i use baby shampoo to clean professional makeup brushes?(i have acne prone skin will this be okay)?

I only buy expensive professional brushes and I want to preserve their life span.

    Here's my routine.

I clean my brushes almost daily with a brush cleanser (just to get the color off of them).

    But...

Once a week I thoroughly wash them (gently!! dont ruffle the bristles too much!) with Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Just a little dab, and run under lukewarm water (never too hard, you could mess with the glue) until the water washes clean.

Press them gently onto a towel and let them dry on their side or upside down if at all possible. Don't place them face up as you can possible alter their shape while drying.

They will be soft, and clean. I've been using this technique for years and my brushes are still like new.

good luck :o)Can i use baby shampoo to clean professional makeup brushes?(i have acne prone skin will this be okay)?
Yes that will be perfectly fine. You don't need to buy any of those expensive brush cleaners when baby shampoo will do the same thing! Can i use baby shampoo to clean professional makeup brushes?(i have acne prone skin will this be okay)?
better to use something that will cut the oil, dawn dish liquid. make sure you rinse really good. and let them air dry
I've seen this question yesterday, it was just new that time. Hmmm... i read somebody's answer who said that there's actually no particular soap that you should use in cleaning your make up brushes. As long as it can clean it well, that's all that matters!
Yes baby shampoo is gentle,it will work let the brushes

    air dry though!!
Yes of course it is okay!! Although you might want to wash it with some antibacterial handsoap first!! I usually clean my brushes every other week or so with handsoap, and then shampoo and conditioner (just to keep the hairs soft and in good condition).

How do i become a professional makeup artist?

im obsessed with makeup and i wanna know while i still have time since im 15 right now . do i have to take cosmetology classes? im more interested in makeup than hair . i want to do makeup for someone for a wedding or for a photoshootHow do i become a professional makeup artist?
take cosmetology. its not JUST HAIR and you'll need to get certified. the good news is if you live near a beauty school you can take classes at 16 to get the basics out of the way! good luck! How do i become a professional makeup artist?
If I were you I would take cosmetology classes, it teaches you about hair and skin. How to color, hair cut, hair styles, skin-facial, make-up all the basic to get a license then when you do get it. You could Specialist on what you like the best which is make-up. Good Luck!
im also dying to know! im 15 and i need to know what are

the requirements to be a professional. although id like

to start off working at Macys like in MAC or Chanel doing

make up for people. i heard they get alot of money too :)
Take cosmetology or go to a cosmetic trade school. They have several. If you're good enough without taking schooling you can always freelance and develop a name for yourself like that.
    deffiniltely not too late

But finish high school first please

In Canada or the U.S.?How much does Professional makeup application cost?
Alot of department store makeup counters will do them for free ! If your looking for a personal MUA it depends, some can range from $50 to $150 and hr .. It all depends on the occasion !How much does Professional makeup application cost?
It depends on what you're doing.

A lot of department store makeup counters will do a free makeover just to try to get you to buy makeup, but some won't do it unless you buy a minimum amount.

If you're looking for a specific occasion, I would go get a free one for fun and then maybe ask how much it would cost for a certain day.
well, i went black friday shopping, and my friend and i wanted to get it done. we went to the chanel counter(which was stupid cause we're only thirteen and cant afford their crap) and they said that it was free with the purchase of two of their products. im not sure about other places, but i thinks thats pretty much standard procedure
it depends on the quality..but if you schedule an appointment at sephora they'll give you one free!!

What type of foundation do professional makeup artists use for wedding photos?

I would ask the person who did my makeup, but I am not speaking to her-she left me to go makeup another bride while I was getting my nails done, and I was late to my own wedding. What type of foundation do professional makeup artists use for wedding photos?
I agree with MAC foundation- but also try SmashBox Photofinish primer - it makes your foundation last %26amp; your skin is so smooth. You can find it at sephora - http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a>What type of foundation do professional makeup artists use for wedding photos?
this is a great question! I hope that anyone who answers will also tell where the average person can purchase the products. I hate it that you were late for you own wedding. Boo on the person who did your make-up.
I agree with the first person who recommended MAC ... they have great foundations and fun colors for everyday use. Make sure you are not allergic to talc, though, as that is what most of their eye makeup is made with. There are specific MAC stores in most malls but it can also be found in larger anchor stores such as Macy's and Nordstrom. I also love Smashbox make-up. The price is comparable to MAC and you can find it in Sephora.
MAX factor international. its the best. its lightweight and it doesnt wear off..i love it! i perosnally use covergirl translucent powder. its flawless and it doest wear off as easily.
I did my own makeup for my wedding, but I did buy a foundation from Merle Norman to use and it worked wonderfully!

I've heard some makeup artists use a sort of ';spray on, all day long lasting foundation'; that is special in that it doesn't lose its spark and continues to look good on the face for hours.
I did my own makeup and I used estee lauder. The thing you need to get right is matching your skin tone. Then set it with powder. It lasted all day and no one knew I did my own makeup.
Well, I don't know about what a pro would use, but I would go with BareMinerals from BareEscentuals. There is no line where the make up starts and the skin ends, and it blends perfectly to your exact skin tone even though it only comes in about 8 actual colors and only 4 skin tones. Plus, it's all natural mineral make up that doesn't clog your pores, so not only will you be picture perfect on the wedding day, but you won't break out during the honeymoon.

You can find it online at www.bareminerals.com or you can go to Sephora, either in person or at www.sephora.com
I use Merle Norman personally, it covers everything from acne to wrinkles. More than not I use ';Alabaster Beige'; it fits most womens skin tones with more of a ';yellow'; to it, so it cuts the redness and blends into natural color with A LOT of coverage well. You use it as a cover up first, then go back over it like a foundation. It's about $20.00 and lasts well over 6 months if it's for personal use.

i am a make up artist and a master cosmetologist. i have fallen in love w/ MAC make up, its great. i use it and all of my clients LOVE it.
Not sure what professionals use by I use BareMinerals and I absolutely love it. I don't break out at all anymore and the best thing about the minerals is you never know it's on your face. In the heat, liquid make-up runs and builds up and I find it to feel slimy on my face. I'm sorry to hear about your wedding situation!

I think good make up artists have a few different brands of makeup, they use what they consider the best of whatever they are using, ie-mascara, lipstick, ect.
as a make up artist you can buy the cheapest make up there is and make it look fantastic, plus you can charge customers a bomb, i know it sounds bad but it puts money in your pocket.

Well. The best brand is definitely M.A.C.---%26gt; http://www.maccosmetics.com/

But it is definitely pricey. You can always buy one small piece at a time, and get a collection over the years.

I don't know of any factories where you can buy brand names for cheap prices, but you can always look around eBay and stuff like that. Also, there are some really great little brands out there that work just as well.

I really like NYX.It looks a little like M.A.C,but isn't pricey. An eyeshadow ( http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/Main_Pages/P鈥?/a> is $5 compared to the $14 price of M.A.C. They both have around the same amount of colors, and they both apply well.

Hope this helped. Even if you can't find brand names for cheaper prices, you can always use substitutes..=]
I hear Mac products are the best. It is pretty pricey though.

I just left a job at a salon where we ordered private label makeup from some company in Canada. I was told it was made by the same people who make MAC. I am looking for a shade of lipstick called WHIPPED CREAM shade #302.

I tried google with no luck. Can you help?Professional Private label makeup from canada?
I looked through the MAC site for your lipstick shade, but didn't find it. Below is the link. Perhaps you could email their customer service, and they can help you. Best of luck.

Suck it up, baby...now you have to get a job like the rest of us!

    Good Luck!

Where can I get a full professional quality makeup up kit (like MAC, Sephora) for a good/discounted price?

MAC doesn't sell full kits of any sort, really. And most websites that say they sell ';complete MAC kits'; of any sort are most likely selling fakes. (Fake makeup can be VERY unsafe, because you have no idea what's in it!) If your heart is set on MAC makeup, the best way to get your hands on the inexpensive stuff would either be to get a Pro card (if you're a professional makeup artist or a model) or to check out a Cosmetics Company Outlet (or CCO).

I know Sephora puts out kits from time to time, especially their Blockbuster sets. Ulta has some really great kits too. They go on sale from time to time, or if you get on their mailing list/discount card doo-dad, those are usually good ways to score some pretty sweet discounts as well.

If you are interested in a full kit, NYX cosmetics does offer two different complete starter kits that come with makeup, a solid train case, and some brushes:

    http://nyxcosmetics.com/0808_starterkit/鈥?/a>

Here is a site with some swatches of their products. They're actually REALLY good, for the price.

you can check out your local CCO (cosmetic company outlet), they sell MAC, clinique, and other pricey brands @at discounted prices. but they have a limited variety of things, they usually get extra items that get stocked up @MAC stores, i think. but i buy alot of my MAC over @the CCO's. hope that helped :)Where can I get a full professional quality makeup up kit (like MAC, Sephora) for a good/discounted price?
For professional quality and a good range of industry-standard colours and products, I would try Camera Ready Cosmetics:

    http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/prod鈥?/a>

They sell complete kits, as well as a range of palettes, etc. La Femme and Nixie are both good quality brands that are a lot easier on the wallet than MAC or Sephora.
You can certainly try eBay or your local cosmetics outlet stores; just be very careful because many outlets are selling discontinued items that may (often) be expired. Just know what is currently available at the MAC counter and shop accordingly.

Also, use caution with eBay as they are notorious for selling fake MAC products, especially the pigments.

    Good Luck!
Try ebay, but currently sephora has a really nice set for $22.

    http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a>
if you want to buy it online you should go for ebay, it goes cheap and good.
Try Beauty.com. They have proffesional make up for a cheaper price.

I Want To Become A Professional Makeup Artist And Hopefully Work For MAC...What School Should I Go To?

I graduated from college with a degree in Political Science. My dream is to go to beauty school and become a professional makeup artist!

I really wanna work for MAC. What beauty school should I go too? How long does it take? What classes should I enroll in?

Also for anyone who knows (works, etc.) for MAC, if I wanna be a cashier at MAC (and not a makeup artist), do you think they will hire me? What are the qualifications for working at MAC? Is it hard to get a job there?

Thanks!I Want To Become A Professional Makeup Artist And Hopefully Work For MAC...What School Should I Go To?
I personally worked for Estee Lauder as a manager. Department stores hire the cosmetic associates but they must also interview with the cosmetic company. You are really working for two different companies...the store and the cosmetic company...but the store provides you with a paycheck. When you work at the counter you are considered a make-up artist at the counter. As you get more familiar with the products and meet people within the company its pretty easy to become a make-up artists that travels from store to store. The only down fall from that is that you are not guaranteed hours like you are at a counter in a dept store. And if you have to travel somewhere they don't pay for your travel espenses. I will tell you it's a lot of stress because you are expected to reach certain goals that can be hard to obtain. Overall, its a fun job. And you are not required to have gone to any school to get the job. The cosmetic companies provide a school for you seasonally that you attend. They are usually a lot of fun because you get pampered and get free product!I Want To Become A Professional Makeup Artist And Hopefully Work For MAC...What School Should I Go To?

Why not ask the girls that work there.

Go in for a free demo and take time to chat.

Ask questions about job related training and where to go.

Also ask about work there and what it would take to get an entry level position.

    Go dressed to impress

    Good Luck
First, I would go to an accredited cosmetology school and get your licence. I think its no more then a year or two program. Then I would apply in at MAC and start off there. If you tell them your passion for makeup and their company, I am sure you will get hired. Good luck to you!
If I were you I would go one day to Mac...see when they are not busy and tell them what you just told us. They will tell you what school they went to and why they like it or didnt. Ask all of them and you will have a better idea. I am not sure but I am thinking they are going to say proabably any makeup artist school....google it Oh yeah...I think they dont have cashiers seperately, the actual makeup artist rings it in for you...maybe on comission????

How do I set up a makeup appointment with a professional and where?

I was thinking that it would be fun for me and all my friends to get our makeup done professionally at a store. (Like at Sephora.) Can I set up appointments online? Where should I go?How do I set up a makeup appointment with a professional and where?
If you go to the makeup counter at Macy's or Nordstrom specifically: Chanel and Dior sign up for thier mailing list, you will get information about new and seasonal products. I did that and last fall I got an invitation from Dior for a makup workshop. There were professional makeup artists hired by the company. It was amazing! You can set up your appointment with someone at the makeup counter. And when you recieve your invitation you have to call the department store of where the workshop will be held to confirm your appointment. And don't forget to pay attention to what the makeup artist is doing! It is the BEST time to ask questions. Good luck and have fun! :)How do I set up a makeup appointment with a professional and where?
At Sephora, you just walk into the store and ask for a makeup consultation, no appointment necessary. Same for department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom.

At the Nordstrom where I live, you can go up to a specific makeup counter (such as Chanel) and ask if you can make an appointment. The people there have a little appointment book and will put you in at the day and time you want to come. It's just to reserve a spot; however, you can usually just walk in without an appointment.
    ulta does it.

Try the Bare Escentuals Tapered Blush Brush:

This perfectly rounded brush applies, blends, and contours the blush to give it a more natural flush of color to the cheeks. The soft, flexible, goat hair bristles allow you to control the amount of color you apply. Find it at sephora.com or Sephora stores for $15.

    Sally beauty supplies.or ultra
    umm try Target

they have a line of stuff called sonia Kusnink or something like that there
If you have an Ulta beauty store - sometimes that along with their coupon can yield good a good price (you can get the coupon from the website). There are also some professional brush sets from ebay as well if you use them at all.

If you don't use ALL those brushes - the best thing to do is to take a look at what brushes you really do use and purchases those. Even Walgreens has some good makeup brushes that has good grip handles.

Yes! A 2 dollar makeup kit!

What is the best to wash your professional makeup brushes with?

shou;ld i use johnsons baby shampoo

or something like olay gentle wash(like for ur skin)What is the best to wash your professional makeup brushes with?
I use baby shampoo. Brushes are made of hair, shampoo cleans hair. I also hang my brushes upside down to dry, to prevent water from getting into the crimps or glue of the brush - I do this by looping a rubber band over the brush and onto a towel bar. What is the best to wash your professional makeup brushes with?
Many professional makeup artists use a specialized cleaning solution for their brushes. These solutions are available at most beauty supply stores.

Personally I use shampoo for normal hair and it works wonderfully.

Run the bristles of the makeup brush under warm running water.

Apply a small amount of shampoo to bristles and work into a light lather.

Rinse bristles thoroughly under running water. You will notice that the water leaving the brush is tinted from old makeup.

Continue rinsing until no color leaves the brush.

    Allow it to air-dry.
I just use antibacterial hand soap and warm water. I have a brush cleanser that I use every so often for a little extra germ zap, but just that and warm water works great, and I've had my brushes for years.
Use either a special brush cleanser, a baby shampoo, or a mild facial cleanser. All should work equally well!

Also, make sure you always dry your brushes upside down or angled downward. Otherwise, the water can pool up in the brush head and dissolve the glue that holds the bristles in!
You should try and wash your brushes thoroughly at least every three months.

There are professional brush cleaners on the market, but they can be harsh. To avoid irritation, use a daily cleanser or a mild washing up liquid to wash your brushes. This way, you're less likely to have an allergic reaction.

Reshape your brushes after washing, I tend to wrap them in a towel or kitchen paper, and let them dry thoroughly before reusing them. If your bristles frizz and begin to shed, it's time to buy a new brush again.

    Hope this helps!
I really like MAC's brush cleanser. If you can't afford a brush cleanser, use a mild shampoo (like Johnson's baby shampoo) and be gentle on the brushes. Always rinse downwards (you only want to get water on the tips).

Gently squeeze out excess water and then air dry the brushes on a flat surface.
Johnson's baby shampoo is mild enough that it won't harm the brushes. Never use a lot just enough to get the brushes nice and clean. Also use mild warm water anything colder ot hotter will harm the brushes. After washing them dry them where the brush part are able to drip off any excess water.
i think baby shampoo is best

Is there any makeup salon that does a professional makeup for graduation? (In the lower mainland (Vancouver))?

Try Holt Renfrew. And most hair saloons or spas can do good makeup. Just make an appointment before your grad, tell them what you want, and see if you like it. If you don't try somewhere else. Check out reviews of salons in your area on line. The more high scale places should be better, but not always. Is there any makeup salon that does a professional makeup for graduation? It depends on what products you are looking for. Some professional brands are better in certain areas of makeup than others. MAC is known for their bright and bold eyeshadow colors. But, their foundations apply really heavily. I suggest searching some websites to get feedback.

Not sure if you have a Macy's in your area. They have links to products on their page. They list the most common professional brands. Have a look through them, and see which may suit you best. Good luck. What are some professional makeup brands?
Sephora for eyeshadows and liners is great!! Probably the best. You can use drugstore mascara - maybeline, for example, that will be be as good as professional.
Sephora is a good one. They have them at some JC Penny stores.
I love mark. Their products are all designed by leading makeup artists, and are high quality. The best part is, it is very affordable ($4 - 18).
I think professional makeup artists use many different brands ranging from high-end makeup brands to drugstore brands. For example, I know that many makeup artisits love Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara. I know that MAC (found at many department stores) and Make Up Forever (found at Sephora) are both considered ';professional'; brands. They both are used as stage makeup, which means that they have heavier makeup (mainly heavy foundations). Hope this helps!
Get Bobbi Brown. The eyeliner is awesome.

MAC is good they have nice colors.

Clinique and Mary Kay are good too.
Sephora brand is awful, i love their store but their brand sucks.... so dont listen to anyone with that. Same thing goes for too faced products...they are ok..

MAC, Smashbox, Urban Decay, Dior, Make Up For Ever, NARS, Bare Escentuals, Vincent Longo, ... These are some of the best. You can find them all at sephora except MAC. To get MAC you either go to their local store, or counter. You can find out if you have one at www.maccosmetics.com

Professional makeup tips that would help me do better with makup??? shadows, foundation, etc?

Hi! I don't use much makeup myself, but I enjoy putting it on others, and i'm not half bad!!! Does anyone have any tips for me that would help me do even better? I plan to be a dermatologist and then makeup artist when I get older!Professional makeup tips that would help me do better with makup??? shadows, foundation, etc?
The best tips I can offer are:

    1) practice, practice practice!

    2) Use a ';look book'; and take photos of your favorite looks. It is useless to make up your friends and then forget what you used and how you used it. Date your photos and put them in an album or online with notes on what you used. All good chefs do this with recipes, and so do makeup artists w/ their clients!

    3) Experiment with new techniques and colors and products. When Vogue or Harper's comes out, check out the advertisements on the first few pages. Those are usually the most cutting edge trends.

    4) Give yourself a ';test'; or ';theme'; such as evoking an image or an idea. Not ';Blue Eyeshadow'; but something like ';Butterflies in Spring'; and see if you can match the idea with the makeup.

    Good luck!
