Question about getting professional makeup done?

I would like to get the smokey eye but am not sure what type of place I should look for to get it done. A spa? or a Beauty Salon?

It's not so much where you go, but who does your makeup. Not everyone that works at a makeup counter is a makeup artist, and not everyone who works at a spa or beauty salon is either. However, I would probably go to a salon as most makeup artist what work there have had to go to school to get a liscense, so they at least got SOME training.





Make sure you bring a picture of what you would like. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words :)
find out if there are any freelance makeup artists in your area. I am one and we can be way cheaper in price than salons or cosmetic counters. If you want to try MAC just keep in mind that its gonna run you $50.00. Salons will charge anywhere from 25-40$ or more.





Salons typically have an extra fee if you want to ';try it out'; first before the actual day of your event.





The M.A.C makeup artists are pretty well trained so its a pricey alternative but a good one.





Freelance Makeup Artists - ask to see photos of their work and request a ';try out'; if you chose this route.





Smokey eye tends to be more expensive.
