How do I go about becoming a professional makeup artist?

I am a real girly girl. I love makeup, designing, hair styling and so forth. I would love to work at MAC or somewhere to that nature. How do I go about becoming a preofessional makeup artist and does anybody know how much of a career you can make out of that? Also, money wise?How do I go about becoming a professional makeup artist?

Well, usually in Fangoria(a horror magazine), they usually post information for all kinds of makeup siminars. Phone numbers, contacts, etc. But, thats only if you're into becoming a celebrity makeup artist.
