Professional Makeup Artist?

I'm thinking about hiring a professional makeup artist to do my makeup and my bridesmaids makeup. It's costly, but I think it's worth it.

Has anyone had a makeup artist at their wedding? How did it work out and was it worth it?

I'm not good at doing my own makeup, so that's out of the question.Professional Makeup Artist?
Hiring a professional makeup artist is completely worth it. Depending on where you live or where you're getting married, the cost will vary. In the Washington DC area I have a few people who I work with and they charge $200 for the bride. The great thing about that is that fee also includes unlimited trials, in case the bride changes her mind. They also travel to where the bride is getting ready and will go to the ceremony to do touch ups before pictures are taken. It is definitely well worth it!!Professional Makeup Artist?
I am going to get one because no matter how well you can do make-up, you don't want to have to worry about this on your wedding day.

I actually used to work as a make-up artist and did make up for a few weddings and proms.
It worked out well and I could not have done what she did! I looked like me, but super-great! And the photographs look great as well.

If possible, meet beforehand to do a ';mini';, just for practice so you can get an idea of what youll look like. You dont want to hire her if she makes you look like a clown!
If you aren't used to doing your own make-up, go ahead and use one. Make sure you have a practice session first, like you do with your hair stylist so you get exactly what you want on your day. I know it can be costly, but check out a local Mary K rep or a student at a cosmetology program may cost a bit less and you can also drum up some business for them.

Good luck on your day!
i'm absolutely going to have one. i already had my trial run done, and it went great. even if you could do it yourself, with all the things happening that day, why add applying mascara to them? let a professional do this. also, they have make-up techniques and long lasting make-up that can withstand the professional pictures, and all day. purchase the make-up she uses (or similiar) so you can carry in a little tote the day of. employ your BM that's best at applying make-up to do touch-ups the day of the wedding. good luck!
